Play window: CachyOS for the match, Unwoke after

Restores Stock ujust install-steam turns on Xwayland or ptrace and leaves them on. Unwoke asks those once, then a play window uses Feral GameMode (and optional sched-ext) only while the game runs. Close Steam → full overlay locks. Crash or reboot: first-boot wipes the play stamp. ujust unwoke-test FAILs if that stamp is leftover with no game.

What we will not do. We do not swap in the CachyOS kernel. That would leave the signed secureblue ostree. SMT and CPU mitigations stay. That is the Spectre story stock already chose.

  1. Install Steam (asks locks)

    ujust install-steam

    Same as Steam. Per-app GameMode D-Bus is granted. Global lockdown stays on other Flatpaks.

  2. Just click Steam

    After install, the app-grid Steam icon wraps GameMode. A login agent sees Steam start and quit. You do not type anything to turn it off. Close Steam. Locks return. Optional: ujust play stop.

  3. sched-ext is automatic if the tools are there

    If scxctl is on the image, the agent loads gaming mode with Steam and unloads it when you quit. Opt out: ujust play scx off.

  4. Prove you are locked again

    ujust play stop
ujust unwoke-test

    Healthy: PASS no play window (full overlay locks) and RAM disks still noexec unless you stamped the Steam loosen.

Vs stock: they have no restore-on-exit. Vs CachyOS: they rebuild the kernel and userspace; we keep the signed image and borrow GameMode + optional sched-ext.
